Partner Teachers–
You did it! Thanks to you, your students had a wonderful summer of learning.
While NSSI worked hard to provide a strong curriculum and support, YOU were the magic in the classroom each day. From day one, you brought our shared vision to life—centering student thinking, fostering rich discussion, and making every lesson meaningful.
We are full of gratitude for your commitment–all of the family communication, intellectual preparation, student work analysis, discourse-based teaching, feedback on student work, and more that you have done every day.
While we don’t have all the data in yet, initial results show very happy parents, significant growth in student skills, and students who loved the books, the math challenges, and, most of all, are really appreciative of their teachers’ hard work and support this summer.
After some of the most challenging years in education, you stepped up to serve your students and grow as educators. That is remarkable, and you should be proud of what you have accomplished for students.
Each of you has played your part to support the students in your classroom or the teachers you coach, but you are also part of something much bigger—a nationwide community of educators who came together to support thousands of students in having an exceptional summer.
Thank you.
We see you, we appreciate you, and we hope to work together again next summer.
With gratitude,
The NSSI Team
We’re in the final stretch! We can’t wait to see how much your students have grown and to hear your feedback about your experience. Please submit your post-assessment data and make sure you (and your students!) complete surveys by your last day. Please read below for more details–and find out how you can win a gift card from NSSI!
With appreciation,
The NSSI Team
We are excited to measure student growth from the beginning to the end of our program, but we can only do that if we have data from both tests.
✅ Administer post-assessments during August 4-7 assessment window.
NSSI’s recommendation is to administer the post-assessment on day 21 (second-to-last day of instruction) so that students’ full growth throughout the program is captured; however, you can administer tests anytime during the window.
The tests are similar to the pre-test, and should be administered the same way.
Note: there is no post-assessment for grades K-2 ELA!
✅ Score your tests and submit test data to NSSI by EOD on Friday, August 8.
Where to find help:
Instructions, scoring guides, and submission forms are in the Day 21 Math Foundations or ELA Daily Overview (linked from the Unit Overview).

Share the survey link directly with students–they will need access to a device such as a computer, tablet, or smartphone.
Make a copy and modify this short slide deck to share instructions
We recommend that you give the survey during class or at another time of the school day. If that’s not possible, you can assign it as homework.
If you’re not sure how to administer the survey, check in with your school leader to identify a plan!

What to do if workbook pages are missing (7/25)
We were recently made aware of a printing error in some (not all) Grade 5 ELA student workbooks where lesson 6 was repeated twice, and some books do not have all the pages. While it appears that this was a printing error, NSSI wants to make sure that you and your students have the materials you need.
In case this happens in any other grade level, here’s what you should do:
NSSI Guidance: Print pages directly if they are missing in the workbook. Each day's student worksheets are linked directly within the Unit Overview, so teachers can print an individual day's worksheets as needed.
If you come across any other issues, please let us know right away using our Feedback Form.

July 1 Updates - On your mark, get set, go!
Tomorrow, you walk into a room full of students–some of whom you’ve never met–and get to create something extraordinary. TNTP’s The Opportunity Myth reminds us that students thrive when teachers hold high expectations and deliver rigorous, meaningful instruction. And research from Pianta tells us that when students feel connected to their teacher, they learn more deeply. Our curriculum brings the rigor, but you bring the heart. Never forget: you are the difference.
Action Items: Pre-assessments!
Action #1: Administer Pre-assessment July 2-9
Instructions are in your Day 1 Daily Overview, linked from your Unit Overview.
We recommend giving the test on day 2 (July 2); however, we understand that class rosters are still in flux, so the pre-assessment window is July 2-9.
Grades K-2 (Rising 1st-Rising 3rd): there are no ELA pre- or post-assessments this year; there ARE math pre- and post-assessments.
Action #2: & submit Pre-assessment data to NSSI by EOD on Friday, July 11
